About Stephanie Mattingly
As a former copy editor and currently a Digital Content Manager, I am comfortable with taking something concrete and molding it to a digital format. While working at the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA), I have juggled various roles and responsibilities, and currently serve as Digital Content Manager. In this role, I’m responsible for driving digital content quality and coordination for the AOTA website and e-newsletter. I oversee training for staff content entry liaisons in our Content Management System, Sitecore, as well as our Content Operations platform, GatherContent. I collaborate with staff to prioritize projects, develop new content, and keep existing content up to date. In my role as Managing Editor for AOTA, I oversaw the work of 9 volunteer editors, all who submit 4 articles per year for the Quarterly. I worked closely with the editors to coordinate each edition based on deadlines in the editorial schedule. During this process, I also worked with various members of staff for reviews of the articles, copyediting needs, and promotional materials, all while making sure the overall publication meets the standards of the association. Each year I trained the new batch of editors, and I held collaboration meetings with the editors for each edition. I transitioned the process for the Quarterly from an email and file folder system to Asana for streamlined production. Additionally, I eliminated costs of typesetting overseas by compiling editions in-house using InDesign. For six and a half years I worked at The Gazette, a community newspaper that covered part of Maryland. I started on the copy desk mainly doing layout and editing of news stories and was promoted to Web editor after four years. I came into the Web editor position knowing little about the intricacies of the Web. My boss took me under her wing and taught me about HTML and Content Management Systems. I have a bachelor’s degree in journalism from Ohio University’s E.W. Scripps School of Journalism. While studying for my degree, I worked as a copy editor for the campus newspaper, The Post. I am familiar with APA and AP Style. I am used to working in a deadline-paced environment while still upholding standards of quality and accuracy.
Listed skills include Journalism, Ap Style, Copy Editing, Newspapers, and 24 others.
