Senior Manager - Business Intelligence & Analytics
New York, Ny, Us
I was hired to lead the reorganization of AIG's Consumer Retirement Analytics Division during a change in the company's corporate structure. My primary focus then and what I continue to do is modernize reporting processes while setting daily SOP's and expectations for staff performance at a multinational financial services.♦ Create a JIRA project pipeline, standardize proposals, smooth intake methods, and consolidate reporting platforms around a single digital tool, including cutting-edge self-service processes and data visualization. ♦ Execute multiple projects simultaneously, with budgets up to $500k, using Agile methodology, including a Hadoop data lake depository and reporting hub; COGNOS consolidation, which is a continuing project; and a Business Objects upgrade, which was done in house, saving more than $300k from an outside proposal.♦ Promote open dialogue within a collaborative culture for two fulltime staff, six junior rotational analysts, three high school interns, and up to 20 onshore/offshore contractors. Invest a lot of time in training and mentoring activities each day.♦ Deliver substantial functionality for reporting needs to 300 end users across six business units, and leverage tech skills to develop similar platforms across the enterprise and for external business partners. ♦ Convene daily standup meeting to review work in progress, address any roadblocks as a team and make sure backlog is properly groomed and prioritized for quick completion. Utilize JIRA board, an all-inclusive method of seeing what the department is working on, which gives senior leadership a great overview.♦ Establish stronger relationships with long-standing suppliers needing attention and support for their reporting needs, including regulatory compliance and audits.♦ Evaluate services and tools from outside vendors for possible implementation, such as a demonstration from Oracle on a new analytic toolset which might close out a two-year relationship with IBM.
