Dr. Shafia Arshad is an accomplished academician, researcher, and science communicator based at The Islamia University of Bahawalpur, Pakistan. She serves as a Faculty Member at University College of Conventional Medicine and heads the university's research publication efforts as Communication and Publication Officer at the Office of Research, Innovation and Commercialization (ORIC). Additionally, she oversees the Phytomedicine Lab, where her work bridges the gap between traditional medicine and modern science.With 15 years of university teaching experience, Dr. Arshad is a seasoned educator and mentor. She holds a PhD in Biochemistry and has authored over 50 research articles in international journals. Her work primarily focuses on medicinal plants, biochemical pharmacology, nutrients, and public health issues. So far, she has guided 4 graduate students in their research theses.As the Incharge of the Phytomedicine Lab, Dr. Arshad manages advanced analytical techniques, including HPTLC, GC-MS, and FTIR, to explore and validate the therapeutic potential of natural products. Beyond teaching and conducting studies, Dr. Arshad is deeply passionate about promoting research and scholarly publishing nationally. As Publication Officer at ORIC-IUB, she has been instrumental in capacity building initiatives that saw IUB journals get indexed in world-leading databases including Web of Science, Scopus and PubMed. She also serves as Editor for an HEC recognized journal. Endowed with diverse administrative competencies, Dr. Shafia Arshad serves on the Council of Asian Science Editors, International Natural Product Sciences Taskforce, Her excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving abilities have been honed through training programs offered by the Higher Education Commission, Elsevier Researcher Academy where she has 6 Certificates of Excellence, and various national and international conferences.With a diverse expertise spanning biochemistry, medicinal chemistry, scientific writing and research promotion, Dr. Shafia Arshad exemplifies a passionate commitment to the generation and dissemination of impactful health sciences knowledge both locally and globally.
