The entitled research topic was "Proposal of a model to enhance the safety of machinery during operation and maintenance in the era of digitalization and connectivity."We proposed a systematic approach that relies on crucial enabling technologies in the era of digitalization and connectivity (i.e., Industry 4.0) to connect machine builders and machine end-users in Smart Working Environments (SWEs). The transmitted safety-related data help safety experts to carry out a more realistic machine risk assessment by considering design problems and also to benefit from experienced feedback from end-users, and mutually learn more about incentives to bypass the safeguards and protective devices machine operators. • Ergonomics and safety: Machine risk management and analysis, machine standards (e.g. ISO12100), machine protection (e.g. CSA Z432-16), confined space, lockout/tagout, continuous improvement, ergonomics. Accomplished project – Safety management in confined space.• Industrial safety: Risk assessment and analysis, industrial cleaning with a water jet under high pressure, risks associated with construction; working at height; electrical safety; handling and lifting; heavy machines, preventive fire and explosion.
