The main duty of the deputy chairman is to step in as acting Chairman of the Board, should this become necessary. The primary purpose of an audit committee is to provide oversight of the financial reporting process, the audit process, the system of internal controls and compliance with laws and regulations.The audit committee can expect to review significant accounting and reporting issues and recent professional and regulatory pronouncements to understand the potential impact on financial statements. An understanding of how management develops internal interim financial information is necessary to assess whether reports are complete and accurate.The committee reviews the results of the audit with management and external auditors, including matters required to be communicated to the committee under generally accepted auditing standards.Audit committees will consider internal controls and review their effectiveness. Reports on, and management responses to, observations and significant findings should be obtained and reviewed by the committee. Controls over financial reporting, information technology security and operational matters fall under the purview of the committee.

The role of the finance committee is primarily to provide financial oversight for the organization. Typical task areas budgeting and financial planning, financial reporting, and the creation and monitoring of internal controls and accountability policies.

The Membership Committee’s primary objective is to effectively communicate to potential and current members the association’s purpose, goals and objectives as outlined in the strategic plan. Develop methods for effective dissemination and information exchange among the members.Services: Develop and implement a new member orientation and support program. Identify each new member and partner each with one or more existing members to enhance the new member’s experience of and involvement with ARELLO®.Participation: Quantify member participation in ARELLO® programs, identifying attractive features as well as limitations preventing participation. Develop methods to promote continued and enhanced participation in ARELLO® programs and services, as well as potentially desirable new services.

The Global Regulatory Best Practices Task Force will examine ARELLO resources that currently exist to promote regulatory excellence and will work to develop additional resources such as a white paper/position statement for use by regulatory jurisdictions.

The Fair Housing committee shall monitor developments in the area of discrimination that conflicts with public policy, laws and/or regulations within ARELLO's membership; interface with relevant organisations; and administer related educational programs and resources. The committee shall develop and/or make available to the regulators resources to assist with enforcement of housing discrimination laws. The committee may periodically conduct an educational forum or education session at the Annual Conference.

The main functions of the Finance Committee are to assist with the review the annual financial statements and to recommend the approval thereof to the Board; to consider the Board’s investments and budgets to make recommendations thereon to the Board; consider other financial reports of the Board; and consider the annual budget and monitor performance against budget.
