About Shaheen Ahmed

Currently, I am serving as a director for the Board of Certification in Professional Ergonomics (BCPE). I am a Professor in the Automotive and Manufacturing Engineering Technology Department at Minnesota State University (MSU), Mankato. I have served as the University Assessment Coordinator and University Assessment Team trainer at MSU. I am a board Certified Professional Ergonomist (CPE) and a board Certified Quality Engineer (CQE). I am a licensed professional engineer (PE) at the state of Minnesota. I have created The Open Educator (www.theopeneducator.com www.youtube.com/theopeneducator) for learners, educators, and professionals all over the world promoting open-source learning and teaching. I enjoy outdoor life, including fishing, hunting, camping, biking, cycling, running, swimming. working on cars, motorcycles, and bicycles. I am a marathon runner and a long-distance bicyclist.     Human Factors & Ergonomics (HFE) is the primary focus of my research interest. Since 2006, I have been performing research in various areas of HFE including scientific data visualization; exposure to risk factors for musculoskeletal injury in construction tasks; general workplace, work task and product design and evaluation in normal and physical and/or cognitively impaired working populations; training, organizational and psychosocial ergonomics; human fatigue in prolonged mentally demanding work-tasks; and the advanced statistical design and analysis of experiments. In future, I would like to apply my research experiences and multidisciplinary training to design, develop and evaluate products, workstations, work-tasks and systems to improve human lives.
