Team consisted of a senior Java developer and myself as the BlackBerry guru.– Adopted facets of Extreme Programming religiously; pairing for the entirety of the day, constantly communicating with one another and the customer, utilizing clear programming constructs and refactoring along the way, culminating weekly iterations with a demo.

TeamDeveloped the BlackBerry Administration Server, a highly-available web application deployed on-premise to manage BlackBerry Enterprise Server installations.Role– Day to day tasks consisted of diagnosis of reported issues and resolution as well as minor features development. The web application was implemented in J2EE and utilized the Tapestry framework.– Also worked on an individual project creating a Java parser to audit Exception types defined in the code-base of the BlackBerry Administration Service.

Implemented backend (using PHP5 and MS SQL Server 2005) and front-end. Implemented session-based authentication through LDAP. Imposed a modular design to facilitate integration of additional tools in the future.– Took ownership of the entire project life cycle and saw it through from requirements collection to testing.

TeamDeveloped drivers for devices early in the product pipeline (BlackBerry Pearl at the time).Role– Implemented BlackBerry handheld peripheral device drivers (timers and serial data protocols) in C and Assembly.– Assisted with UART development on new processor using an evaluation BlackBerry circuit board.∗ Used processor specification and board schematic to implement code that initialized appropriate registers and handled interrupts for setting up the peripheral.∗ Probed pins and GPIOs using an oscilloscope to verify output and debugged using an ICE (in-circuit emulator).– Consolidated and maintained integrity of BlackBerry OS debugging code for various device platforms.

TeamCreated BlackBerry Messenger mobile application and various other IM clients, including Yahoo Messenger, MSN, ICQ, etc.Role– Adapted a mock Instant Messaging server (used to test BB IM apps) to support the latest handheld code. The application UI was written in Java Swing and interfaced with a device over USB.– Extended the BlackBerry device Automated Testing Framework with additional functionality through creation of utility classes.– Implemented test suites that simulated a series of user interactions within the BB IM application (programmatically driving the user interface and taking screen captures).– Performed test coverage analysis and insured critical paths were included in test coverage.– Gained experience in developing software for memory and CPU constrained platforms.
