TeamDeveloped drivers for devices early in the product pipeline (BlackBerry Pearl at the time).Role– Implemented BlackBerry handheld peripheral device drivers (timers and serial data protocols) in C and Assembly.– Assisted with UART development on new processor using an evaluation BlackBerry circuit board.∗ Used processor specification and board schematic to implement code that initialized appropriate registers and handled interrupts for setting up the peripheral.∗ Probed pins and GPIOs using an oscilloscope to verify output and debugged using an ICE (in-circuit emulator).– Consolidated and maintained integrity of BlackBerry OS debugging code for various device platforms.

The application UI was written in Java Swing and interfaced with a device over USB.– Extended the BlackBerry device Automated Testing Framework with additional functionality through creation of utility classes.– Implemented test suites that simulated a series of user interactions within the BB IM application (programmatically driving the user interface and taking screen captures).– Performed test coverage analysis and insured critical paths were included in test coverage.– Gained experience in developing software for memory and CPU constrained platforms.
