I am spearheading collaborative initiatives across UC and CSU campuses and establishing new chapters in remaining UC and CSU locations. My efforts include facilitating organizing efforts between UCLA, UCSB, UC Berkeley, and Chico State, as well as implementing chapters at UC Santa Cruz and UC Davis.This role was created specifically in recognition of my unique qualifications and extensive experience as a student organizer. Driven by my passion for advocacy and my desire to inspire and empower fellow students, I aim to provide a campus-based support system that equips student leaders with the resources and knowledge needed to effect meaningful change in their communities.

Alongside spearheading the establishment of the chapter, my role focuses on advocating for the rights and well-being of refugees and migrants through various initiatives:Advocacy: Lead campaigns reaching 1,000+ students each semester and develop educational materials on local issues.Event Planning: Organize three major events per semester, such as expert panels and workshops, and ensure participation in national Amnesty International events.Outreach: Build relationships with local communities and student organizations, representing our chapter at relevant events.Education: Conduct quarterly training sessions, stay informed on current issues, and provide advocacy resources to members.

I mentored and coached student group coordinators, helping them develop their leadership skills and knowledge. Managing a portfolio of 13 student groups across California, I provided ongoing support and resources to bolster their advocacy efforts. I guided these groups through campaign initiatives, mobilization, issue education, membership recruitment, and fundraising.Staying informed on Amnesty International's campaigns, human rights issues, policies, and current events was crucial to effectively informing and advising the student groups. I conducted regular one-on-one meetings, group calls, and training sessions to ensure they were well-equipped for success.Engaging in organizational consultations and planning allowed me to align our efforts with broader organizational priorities. I collaborated with YLA leaders, AIUSA member leaders, and staff to enhance youth activism. Throughout this journey, I shared successes, challenges, organizing strategies, and campaign tactics to foster a supportive and dynamic community.

I was the sole Youth Representative selected to expand advocacy efforts for the rights and well-being of immigrants and asylum-seekers in the immigration detention system. Collaborating with a diverse group of dedicated individuals, I addressed injustices faced by detained individuals and played a key role in highlighting their daily challenges to youth activists.My work focused on achieving significant policy changes to improve conditions for detained individuals. I spearheaded a video petition campaign urging Congress to support the Dignity for Detained Immigrants Act (H.R. 2222, S. 1186) and mobilized over 100 student activists nationwide to amplify these efforts.Through these initiatives, I raised awareness and generated public support for a more humane and just approach to immigration detention.

I founded Alexander Hamilton High School’s first Amnesty International Chapter and led it to become one of the top student groups in the nation despite the challenges posed by COVID-19. By utilizing social media creatively, I spearheaded local, national, and international initiatives.Highlights:- Blacktivism: Organized a Black History Month Expo in collaboration with Milton Amnesty (Milton, Georgia) and Plano Amnesty (Plano, Texas) alongside Black Student Union Chapters at Hamilton High School, Culver City High School, and King/Drew High School. Garnered over 50,000 followers on TikTok in less than a month. Created a documentary highlighting injustices targeting the Black community. Organized virtual lessons on Intersectionality and Justice Reform with attendees from across the globe, including Guatemala and Ireland.- Criminal Justice Campaign: Led a Death Penalty Panel (December 2020), a Gun Violence Panel (September 2020), and an Incarceration Roundtable (March 2021).- Middle Ground: Inspired by the Jubilee series, I spearheaded a peaceful and civil dialogue with conservative and liberal-leaning youth from across the nation on pressing issues such as COVID-19, immigration, police brutality, and climate change.- Face to Face AIDS Coalition: Organized a series of five interactive virtual events on HIV/AIDS advocacy and its impact on LGBTQ+ and BIPOC communities.- SLAMnesty 2021: Led the organization of a Community Art Collective titled “Break the Cycle” for the National Week of Student Action, featuring Los Angeles youth poets and pieces centered around gun violence.- International Advocacy: Organized forums on Kashmir, Artsakh, and India’s farmer protests.Through these initiatives, I have demonstrated my commitment to advocacy and my ability to inspire and empower fellow students to effect meaningful change in their communities.
