During my final year, I undertook a transformative project titled "Vehicular Traffic Monitoring for Housing Societies," a venture deeply rooted in the realms of Deep Learning and Computer Vision. The project's core objective was the real-time extraction of crucial vehicular data, encompassing vehicles' speed and license plate numbers within residential areas. To achieve this, I implemented a custom-trained object detection model, YOLO v4, boasting an impressive accuracy rate of approximately 95%. This model enabled precise identification of vehicles, while the speed calculation was executed through vehicle tracking using OpenCV. Simultaneously, I integrated Optical Character Recognition (OCR) techniques for the accurate detection and recognition of license plate numbers. This comprehensive approach not only showcased my technical prowess but also highlighted the project's practical applications, enhancing security measures and traffic management within housing societies.
