Building upon experiences and skills I've gathered over the last decade, I am offering design and development services as a freelancer. I design and develop websites, full-stack applications, games, and much more! My goals are to build a portfolio of work that showcases my versatility and to work with organizations that help people in need.

In this role, I manage a two-pizza team of experienced and skilled full-stack software engineers. Together, we deliver high quality web applications used as Internal Tools for Vericast's DM&T Operations teams. Our suite of tools include a robust set of features for digital advertising campaign management, monitoring, optimization, and reporting. We work closely with Product and UX peers to refine requirements, collaborate with various Engineering teams to integrate with their API, and have a mutually beneficial relationship with our user base to streamline their workflows.

As the technical lead for the Internal Tools team, I was responsible for the technical direction of the suite of Internal tools. During my time on the team, I spearheaded several projects including implementing a React Component Library that aligned with a new Horizon Design System designed by our UI/UX peers, creating and applying a standardized web application template throughout our suite of products, and architecting a campaign targeting data model overhaul which involved major changes to several microservices across several engineering teams.

In this role I took on more responsibility around cluster management and built a platform interaction interface known as the Platform Toolkit. I worked with other engineers and DevOps on a multi-year effort to deploy new technologies such as Apache Spark, Yarn and Parquet to maximize cluster resources. I was also responsible for major improvements to internal microservices for job scheduling and dataset sourcing.I managed several interns who were responsible for kickstarting the Cascading to Spark migration for the company's most critical data workflows.

As a Big Data Platform engineer, I was mainly responsible for data management within MaxPoint's petabyte-scale cluster and distributed data processing application development involving Hadoop, Cascading, and Spark. I spent time troubleshooting and resolving production issues with data processing on the cluster, provided metrics to engineering teams regarding their usage of the cluster, and building operational tooling for engineers and analysts.I was also the Scrum Master for my team of approximately 10 engineers as part of the Agile methodology.

Created an emulated version of a teleconferencing server in Java to help the UI team test their software earlier in the development process in the summer. Provided auxiliary support for this product and helped assimilate it internally in the fall.
