Shahram Hashemi is a NY based Director and the founder of Front Post Films, a Brooklyn based Production Company. He has been directing and producing documentaries and TV news programs since 2008, for both national and international media outlets. Notable credits include Occupied (2013), The Battle Within (2015), Race for Justice (2016) and The Battleground (2017). He has also served as the Executive Producer for the Amnesty International "Bringing Human Rights Home" concert at Barclay's Center in 2015, which included notable performances from Imagine Dragons, Madonna, Pussy Riot and more. Hashemi has served on the Board of Directors of Amnesty International over the past ten years, and continues his work closely with them today. He is a former member of the Amnesty International USA's Board of Directors (2007-13), serving first as the Section's Treasurer for four years, and thereafter as Chairman of the Board. He was elected to the International Board of Amnesty International at its 2015 International Council Meeting in Dublin.After graduating with a degree in Finance from Adelphi University's Honor College, he went on to earn a Master's in Human Rights and Economic Development from Columbia University. With his extensive background in social justice issues and International Relations, Hashemi often lectures at Rutgers University-Global Affairs Graduate Program, and at the City University of New York. Hashemi is the recipient of the former Mayor of New York City, F.H. LaGuardia Memorial Association Award for his service in the 9/11 rescue efforts.
