I am one of two Co-Founders at Hey Lady! an online community empowering women through English.We solve one of the biggest challenges every English learner faces at some point - finding people to practise with is really hard! I'm excited and passionate about solving this problem because I believe the future of language learning is social.. that is, I don't think it should or will be driven by AI or speech recognition. At the end of the day, communication is about people and how we connect with each other, in life and at work.What makes makes Hey Lady! so effective in the language space it firstly that we're a community. Our primary goal is not for you to study recorded content or talk to a bot.. We help our members to meet and connect with each other, to have real conversations about real things. They get to experience English in hundreds of different contexts, with different people from different places, with different accents and stories to tell. The opportunity to practice is unlimited and unlike pay-per-hour platforms that quickly become expensive, or artificial intelligence apps that don't have emotions or life experience, our members are forming meaningful friendships with each other because they share the same goals - to enrich their lives and open doors to new opportunities through English. We bootstrapped our way to our first product that was hosted on 3rd party software and attracted 500+ paying customers from 65+ countries. We since completed the Pluseight Startup Accelerator program and now backed by BetterLabs (RAC). Since we took investment we assembled a team, launched our first software product and new brand "Hey Lady!".One year on and we're still here! We've grown to over 1000 customers from 118 countries. Still have our share of challenges but we're moving faster and things are getting exciting!

Our startup Hey Lady! was part of the 2020 cohort of the PlusEight Accelerator backed by Spacecubed and BetterLabs Ventures in Perth. From 100 applicants we were one of six who successfully made it through all three challenging phases of the program. We received valuable masterclasses and mentorship from a plethora of industry experts and inspiring founders to carry us forward. At the conclusion of the accelerator we successfully closed a priced round led by BetterLabs and used their investment to build, launch and monetize our first software product which is still active and growing one year later.
