Protecting the information and critical infrastructure requires a combination of expertise from information technology (IT) domain and knowledge of how operational technologies (OT) work to control our critical infrastructure. The proliferation of commercial technologies in the critical infrastructure control systems has created a target rich environment for the malicious actors and is a vulnerability that continues to threaten our safety and security.I have been at the forefront of helping critical infrastructure sectors such as manufacturing and energy in developing cybersecurity strategies and leading programs to assess and improve their cybersecurity posture. There is no one-size solution that fits every environment and industry. The efficient approach is in understanding the risks and application of the most cost-effective strategies to protect critical systems.I have worked in various capacities in supporting large and small projects geared towards the digital transformation of industries, shaping their future in an environment of rapid technological and business change. Specifically, I have provided national and international cybersecurity guidance to federal agencies on both technical and policy issues, led the implementation of cybersecurity regulatory program and risk assessments in critical nuclear power generation operations. I have also traveled globally to design and engineer Industrial Control Systems - ICS projects.
