About Shailee Vora, Phd
I recently completed my PhD dissertation work at Icahn School of Medicine at Mt Sinai, with a focus in using stem cells to model genetic mutations in cancer. Specifically, I developed novel iPSC models of splicing factor mutations in myeloid malignancies. My work identified a unifying mechanism by which SF mutations drive oncogenesis and uncovered an unexpected therapeutic avenue for myeloid neoplasms. I have acquired considerable training in the culture and maintenance of iPS and their differentiation, specifically towards hematopoietic lineages. I have gained expertise in using CRISPR/Cas9 to generate gene edited iPS lines and utilizing different modes of delivery (viral vectors, nucleofection, etc) to introduce various constructs into these cells. I worked closely with our collaborators to successfully interrogate RNA-omics and proteomics datasets and utilized this information to drive functional characterization of the emerging targets using a broad array of assays. My dissertation work allowed me to gain a broad background in topics ranging from stem cell and developmental biology, hematology, cancer biology, cell signaling, mitochondrial dynamics, and small RNA therapeutics. Prior to my graduate training, I honed my training with extensive previous research experience in both academic and industry settings with particular focus in molecular biology and mammalian cell culture.
Listed skills include Molecular Biology, Polymerase Chain Reaction, Tissue Culture For Rnai And Transient Transfection, Western Blot And Sds Page Analysis, and 19 others.
