The National Postdoctoral Association (NPA) is a member-driven, 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that provides a unique, national voice for postdoctoral scholars. Since 2003, the NPA has taken on the ambitious agenda to enhance the quality of the postdoctoral experience in the United States. Our mission is to advance the U.S. research enterprise by maximizing the effectiveness of the research community and enhancing the quality of the postdoctoral experience, for all participants.

The National Postdoctoral Association (NPA) provides a unique, national voice for postdoctoral scholars. The Outreach Committee prides itself in promoting the public image of the NPA through multiple mechanisms, including: helping promote and plan organizational activities such as National Postdoc Appreciation Week (NPAW); cultivating relationships with professional societies, industry, and the media; using social media as a platform for advocacy and discussion; writing articles on postdoctoral issues in various fields including STEM, humanities, and social science.

The Cancer Prevention Fellowship has provided me with opportunities to hone my skills in health disparities, epidemiology analyses, searching from trends and patterns in dietary exposures and cancer outcomes. My focus has been on prostate cancer, understanding the biological, genetic, and metabolic factors that can be utilized to establish better screening and treatment methods. Moreover, I have dedicated myself to understanding the environmental, social, nutritional, and political factors that surround health disparities, and the important role each plays in cancer risk and prevention. Moreover, I have expertise in research administration, grantsmanship, and concept development to further the field of cancer research and health disparities. In this, I have worked with the Center to Reduce Cancer Health Disparities, and the Center for Strategic Scientific Initiatives.I continue to broaden my skills in health policy, blending it with my experience and scholarship of epidemiology and biological science, to bring a sharper focus to health disparities, cancer research, and funding research overall.
