My doctoral work focused on understanding processes that allow organizations to work through both incremental and organizational change. Private Narratives, Public Rhetoric and the Politics of Change: studied the processes behind resistance to change. I find that private apprehensions of the motives of change leaders can only rarely be discussed in public, therefore the stated rhetoric of resistance, publicly focuses on the content of change even as behind the scenes alliances work to prevent change. 3. In search of change- planned and emergent: studies the implications of the complexity sciences for organizational change. Rather surprisingly I find that organizations need to "plan" for structures that enable the creation of continuous adaptive change.
