About Shalini Urs
I am an academic and an edupreneur. Have been a faculty at the University of Mysore since 1976.I am an information scientist and take a 360 degree view of information—from cognitive to cultural. I research on “information” from a philosophical frameworks to practical aspects. Currently I am working on “Disinformation” and in the areas of Social Network Analysis. I believe in the power of technology to transform learning and bring about positive change. Believing in the power of education, I took the initiative to set up of two educational institutions--MYRA School of Business and the International School of Information Management. I am driven by excellence, commitment, and sincerity. I believe in equity and diversity. I would say I am a egalitarian elitist (oxymoron!). My objective is to create world class institutions preparing future leaders who will impact India and society at large. I believe that education should be elitist in its goal and egalitarian in its approach. It is our duty to offer equal opportunities, create conducive environment, built appropriate learning systems to train, and produce professionals who will create a better world.

I lead Team MYRA in setting up MYRA School of Business. It is very new but very different. Though MYRA is new, the founders together have more than 75 years of experience in higher education. We are very different, from our avant-garde building design to our motto -- "teaching business with a conscience". Believing in the power of education to transform lives and society, MYRA has been setup to "be change the change you want to see" in higher education.

My ideas are simple – autonomy and flexibility coupled with responsibility, accountability, motivation and commitment can work wonders for any system.
