The study focused at confirming Specific Energy Consumption (SEC) at 2 levels – At Plant level and At Process level (i.e. at the Induction furnace etc.) • Melting Capacity of the process was also investigated. • Studies involved Online metering for real time measurement of the energy consumption profile, and subsequent analysis of these real-time records to identify events / instances of ‘above average’ and ‘below average’ energy consumption / demand. These observations were correlated with production records and information from discussions with process personnel / operators, to identify potential for process optimization.• Realization of a process optimisation measure typically takes 3 to 8 months, to install, and stabilize. Support was provided at all levels, to ensure that all relevant personnel understand the new operating practices and implications of the optimizations made. Support included operator level training sessions. Etc.
