Adventurous & curious data & IP attorney, acting as a bridge between multiple technical & business stakeholders to guide them through our new digital & regulatory landscape. High level of communication skills and business acumen, able to translate the impact of information architecture on business outcomes & recognize the importance of the consumer's data, making sure their interests are protected in & by the organization. What does this mean? I build the legal, technological & strategic programs to support long-term business strategies. Data security & privacy are more important than ever to protect against damage, yes, but even more so for customer trust and the creation of true brand value. Who am I? I am an adventurous & curious person who found her calling in data. I am also, in a former life, a tenacious IP attorney with commercial & federal & state litigation experience. I continue to expand my expertise in governance, protection, & analysis of data, while preparing companies to be HIPAA, CAN-SPAM, FDA, EMA, GDPR, CCPA & security framework ready. I am also, most days, creative, resourceful & hard working. I have litigated, prosecuted, & licensed patents, trade secrets, trademarks, copyrights & data, using each unique experience to inform the other. I seek out collaboration - engineers, marketing, HR & leadership - are all necessary to create an environment where data is safe & the processing ethical. This is not an easy thing to do, but rarely are things worth doing ever easy. It takes bravery & hard work to implement & leverage a global, ethical privacy program. The astounding large amount of data produced in our world creates numerous issues to work through, including how we should collect & analyze (monetize) data, how a consumer’s information can be used to a business' advantage, but also how to maintain the duty of care to use data fairly & in the best interest of the consumer - which is, if you think about it - you, me, & our kids' data. This is important work. It requires a certain level of business savvy, but also an understanding of the technology & security required to execute the company's goals. There is really cool work to be done here. More of us need to be doing it. I am also a professional offspring mediator and a 1st & 4th Amendment junkie. I truly love my work and the amazing people I work with. I am also extremely passionate about making this world a better place - for everyone on it. Feel free to reach out if you have questions. Or if you just want to geek out - that's awesome too.
