Consulting public and private sector education organisations on Strategy and Improvement initiatives.

EDB is an autonomous public agency mandated to promote investment and public sector reform in Bahrain. It also provided direct support to the Education Reform Board (chaired by Deputy Prime Minister of Bahrain) in holding each of the organizations to account for performance improvement. As the only Manager in the Education unit I worked directly for the Executive Director, Education Reform. I have worked closely with a number of leading international experts and directly with Ministers and senior staff in the educational agencies in the following capacities.• Overall portfolio management and implementation support to the Education Reform Unit. • Co-ordination between different agencies involved in higher education. Establishing roles and responsibilities and incentives for improvement to ensure the development of consistent national education policies.• Supported the Higher Education Council to make it fit for its contemporary responsibilities. Wrote the implementation plan against which progress was assessed and wrote the briefing papers for the Deputy Prime Minister when these issues were considered.• Worked with a leading international expert, and negotiated with the relevant agencies, the development of Bahrain’s Higher Education Agenda and Bahrain’s Employability Agenda; comprehensive improvement strategies that identified the steps that must be taken to ensure the education system meets Bahrain’s economic and social development needs by qualifying Bahrainis for productive employment.• Assisted the University of Bahrain to develop a 5-year strategy to raise the quality of teaching, learning and academic research, on which I worked directly with the University President; the resulting document is now the core strategy driving the University’s improvement • Developed with the Ministry of Labor, proposals to establish a Labor Market Intelligence Unit to support employability across Bahrain. The project was approved and tendered.
