I was given an internship opportunity at EY's Toronto Office in the assurance practice and worked in our financial services division. Throughout the internship I was given exposure to one of Canada's biggest banks, and the financial services industry as a whole. Specifically, I was part of the team auditing the capital markets, regulatory capital and merchant banking divisions of our client.I absorbed as much as I could about serving clients, and contributing to an audit engagement team during the summer of 2016.

The Commerce Executive of Orientation is in charge of the planning and execution of Queen's Commerce Orientation Week: a 4-day event to welcome the 450+ incoming students to the school and the program. As the treasurer, I was responsible for the substantial budget, allocating funds appropriately, and ensuring that all the expenses incurred were documented and accounted for correctly. As the academics coordinator, I was responsible for the orientation leaders and junior executive members meeting their academic requirements. This entailed hosting tutorials for their exam periods and pairing them up with previous orientation leaders for tutoring and mentoring purposes. As part of the committee I, along with the 9 other members, hired 2 first-year representatives out of a pool of 30. These representatives joined us to hire 60 orientation leaders out of a pool of nearly 240 applicants. We were also responsible for managing the risks associated with a week of this nature and manage the expectations of the diverse set of stakeholders involved.

As a committee, the mission of Queen's Non-Profit Gateway (QNP) is to promote non-profit work as a viable and feasible career option for business students. As the logistics coordinator for Consulting for a Cause, my job is to organize and facilitate a day-long business case competition involving a non-profit partner. Since September, I have been attempting to partner with a non-profit organization, booking rooms and creating minute-by-minute schedules for the event.

Public Outreach is an international Face-to-Face Fundraising agency dedicated to building a sustainable charitable sector. My responsibilities included driving a team of 4-6 out to a location in the Greater Toronto Area as far as London or Hamilton, ON. After that we would go to our designated street corners, attempt to start up conversation with the general public walking through the area and sign them up for child sponsorship. I represented Plan Canada and their "Because I Am A Girl" campaign. Through this position, I learned how to communicate efficiently and effectively, how to put my pride aside for the sake of the job and how to not be afraid of putting yourself out their and taking calculated risks.
