Shammik has more than 25 years of experience in international banking; as a banker, a service provider and a consultant. He is currently Managing Director of INSORCE(TM), the technology enabled avatar of what was Artha Shastra Applied Economic Consulting - a firm that he founded in 2007 and that provides bank operations and risk design services. Prior to this, he worked as Head, Banking Practice with Progeon Ltd. (now Infosys BPO), covering retail, wholesale and investment banking. During this time, the banking business grew from a single client, single process business into one with multiple lines of business, with 12 clients, and from break even point, to one with net margins of 24 percent.As Director, Société Generale Investment Bank (2001-2003), he functioned as Head, Investment Banking. He played a pivotal role in starting the bank’s equity business in India, including equity capital markets, and M&A, specializing in technology and healthcare. Shammik also worked as CFO with inQbiz, a start-up internet and technology incubation company, and coordinated the start up of the company’s development centres in Cape Town and in Mumbai; alliances centre in Singapore and Head Office in Hong Kong. He also worked with Citigroup [NYSE:C] from 1988 to 2000, as in Corporate Finance and Capital Markets where he was responsible for Citibank’s proprietary investment portfolio within software services; banking software products; food; logistics; and banking, and achieved portfolio returns of more than 600 percent.
