Each full group conceptual session is followed by small group application sessions, and supplemented as needed with 1x1 coaching.

Head of strategic learning and and equitable impact for Silicon Valley Community Foundation.Facilitating billions of dollars annually in charitable giving across the U.S. and internationally, SVCF is committed to increasing equity and social justice in Silicon Valley. Why? Because this region, best known for its innovation and immense wealth creation, is also a region of stark inequality and extreme hardship: • 8 households hold more of the region's $1.1 trillion in wealth than the bottom 50% of households combined; • A full quarter of Silicon Valley households hold less than $5,000 each in liquid assets; • 42% of children live in households that are unable to meet basic needs without additional assistance; • Disparities by race/ethnicity and gender persist, and in some cases are increasing, across economic and health outcomes. We can do better.What I have done: • Developed and operationalized a three-tiered approach to evaluation and learning for the Foundation; built structures and processes to support this work throughout the organization.• Provided consultative leadership to maximize impact across all program areas (housing, economic justice, early childhood, community power-building, environment, health, faith, neighborhoods, local journalism, arts & culture, immigration, and emergency and disaster relief).• Strengthened internal performance accountability and facilitated collaborative learning across issue areas and functions; served as an internal consultant on strategy development, communication, implementation and reporting. • Guided research, evaluation and learning agendas across programs; ensured effective grant and contract management of the Foundation's research and evaluation portfolios. • Fostered an inclusive environment, leading cross-functional learning and dialogue to support effective teamwork between professional staff of diverse cultural, social, and ethnic backgrounds.

Responsible for planning and programs of this new state-wide consortium, I managed the political, organizational, and operational complexities of bringing the University of California's five autonomous NCI-designated Comprehensive Cancer Centers together for even greater achievements in patient outcomes, cutting edge research and operational excellence as a collaborative system:• Defined UCCC’s go-forward strategy: engaged health system executives, administrators, clinician-researchers, consultants, patients and staff to identify, prioritize and resource key opportunities.• Propelled initiatives to develop industry partnerships, ease access to information and clinical trials, build Quality Improvement capability across the system, and strengthen multi-site research on the rarest and most lethal cancers.

Planned, led and delivered complex projects across the UC’s 10 academic campuses, 6 medical centers and 3 National Laboratories, addressing high-stakes, time-sensitive issues for the CA State Legislature and the Board of Regents; and engaging with stakeholders across the system to design and develop ambitious new initiatives.Vitalized UC’s Initiative on Innovation and Entrepreneurship (I&E).• Identified innovation barriers and promising practices across the 10 campuses.• Managed complex matrixed process to secure $22M in new state appropriations for integration and scale of effective practices.• Designed and facilitated restructure, creating new Division to guide, strengthen and elevate UC’s I&E ecosystem.• As interim chief of staff for incoming executive, managed staff, communications, strategy and business planning.For a public-private healthcare systems transformation effort, produced business plan and proof-of-concept software.• Led a team of clinicians, patients, UX designers and software developers to map patient and provider experience journeys, identify and prioritize pain points, and apply human centered design thinking.• Unshackled technology development team by providing strategy, operations and resource management. • Facilitated founders, funders and industry partners to articulate vision, strategy, business case and budget. Led 10 cross-functional teams to address 33 sensitive operations, finance and HR issues.• Provided the Board of Regents with decision-making transparency into its $400M+ program portfolio; its first strategic workforce plan aligning talent strategy with business objectives; and a path to addressing diversity and equity gaps in hiring, promotion, compensation and retention.

Guided a new Chief Information Officer and his inherited staff through individual and team development, promoting transformation to an Agile, customer-centric service model and a participatory decision-making culture. I also:• Facilitated largest successful change in 10 years: consolidation of two historical silos into a combined, cross-trained unit using single service platform. • Launched an ‘Innovation Pipeline’: coached staff working group to design an organizational channel to collect, refine, prioritize and pitch innovative ideas to senior leadership.

To promote measurable effectiveness across the international organization, I led a variety of infrastructure, program, process and partnership-building initiatives: • Created evaluation and reporting frameworks and processes to align individual workflows, manage grant deliverables and track program outcomes.• Produced TWB’s first program evaluations, determining effectiveness of TWB’s flagship programs in China and Kenya.• Led capacity-building for leadership of Kenya, Rwanda, Tanzania, Uganda, and Nigeria chapters, aligning of vision, goals, governance, and management processes across the five African regions.• Represented TWB domestically and internationally to secure strategic partnerships in Washington D.C., Kenya and China, including government ministries, universities, teacher-training institutes, development organizations and schools.• Developed sustainable growth plan for TWB’s Emergency Education program in China’s Sichuan Province: led internal and external stakeholders in the design of a 4-year, four phase transition model from high-resource TWB-run program to local leadership and ownership.• Designed and led initiative to develop new service product – harnessing of cellular (SMS) technology for real-time community-based monitoring and evaluation of TWB programs in offline communities.
