Why be an Electrician and get into the trades you ask? At 17 working on a farm in the South Waikato during winter, I was wet, cold, tired and covered in newly born calf wondering WTF! This was the pivotal moment of my career choice. At the time I remembered working with car batteries, wiring them up to lights and switches as a 14 year old and thinking yes Electrician that's my path, I was out of the farming industry! I finished up the year I was contracted to on the farm, saved my pennies (trust me it was pennies back then) and moved to the big smoke of Hamilton to start my Electrical Career!Fast forward 10 years after leaving the farm - I was working in London re-wiring a multi-story car park when my lead tradesman on the job made a statement I will always remember and still hold firm today,"Every day is a School day" If we are not learning and evolving, we are left behind! The Electrical industry is such a fast paced industry now, it’s still exciting to be involved in an industry where you can literally learn something new every day, being something as simple as a new type of fixing or as complex as how to install the latest power saving technology to help businesses and homes reduce their carbon footprint, this is why I have been working in the electrical industry for the past 25 years Learning new systems and technologies is how we grow, how we can help our clients grow and help us both develop new strategies to avoid stagnation, either in new electrical systems, power savings or programmed maintenance to avoid those unnecessarily large bills derived from having to purchase all new equipment due to lack of structured maintenance program. This is my drive, take on a building, office, house new build, design a maintenance program/system or a full new design and build working with our clients to ensure their needs are meet and they have everything they needed within a budget that works for them, plus finding the ways we can extend their budget to include the extras we all want yet thought were not achievable.
