As an educator, Shandrea has been intimately engaged in the movement for student achievement and empowering students by ensuring they are adequately prepared, both academically and socially, for college and beyond, Shandrea entered the field of education as Teach For America Houston Corps Member. The toolkit, she gained from Teach for America provided immeasurable success in the classroom, but those skills have only been amplified with her teaching and leadership experiences with KIPP Houston Public Schools and YES Prep Public Schools. Since entering the classroom, Shandrea has relentlessly pursued student achievement and mastery, designing modules and lessons around core competencies and essential skills in writing and history. As a leader, she has created opportunities to leverage the abilities of all stakeholders, parents, teachers, and students.
