Within my Senior Investment Manager role, I manage and advise on a variety of investment portfolios for clients across the South West, based in the Truro office. This includes client reviews and constantly working to ensure client portfolios remain suitably invested in accordance with their specific personal circumstances, risk profile and aims & objectives. I place deals on behalf of clients including individual equities, bonds and derivatives within dealing rules.Within my Head of Investment Strategy role, I am a member of the Investment Senate and other Model Portfolio Committees contributing towards asset allocation and security selection decision making for the Model Portfolio Service. My primary role was to assist with the design, development and implementation of the group investment proposition providing expert knowledge on all investment-related issues, producing research and thought leadership on a variety of topics. I also supported the group investment governance framework, constructing risk parameters and monitoring investment propositions from across the group.As well as being a member of the Group Investment Proposition Forum, I was a member of the ESG Forum, helping to develop areas such as a group ESG policy, adviser education, client ESG profiling and others. I also led the Group Markets and Portfolio Management Forum formed of investment specialists across the group to discuss the macroeconomic backdrop, markets, portfolio management and processes.

Within my role I undertook various qualitative and quantitative techniques to analyse a wide range of investment products for advisory and discretionary clients. This was on a ‘whole of market’ basis, covering core asset classes including cash, fixed interest, property, equities and alternatives within multiple investment vehicles including predominately collectives.I worked within the Investment Committee hosting monthly meetings and quarterly house view meetings as a principal contributor to key decisions. I had a lead role in managing the firms’ risk-managed discretionary portfolios including decision making on strategic/tactical asset allocation and security selection as well as operational support. This involved investing/raising cash from portfolios, market phasing, bulk switching and rebalancing. On occasion I would construct bespoke portfolios for clients with specific needs such as income, growth or capital preservation objectives. I would also join some client meetings to provide a more in-depth review of markets, outlook and portfolio positioning. To assist day-to-day fund research, I regularly met with fund managers and investment representatives to ensure a sound investment process continued with the products held, as well as potential investments considered.I managed and maintained a selection of in-house tools and research software which was used to aid decision making, as well as maintain a robust fund panel for advisory clients. I wrote the firms’ quarterly market commentary which was sent to advisory and discretionary clients.
