Shane Elks is a Licensed Interfaith Community Chaplain/Minister. He is the founder and Executive Director of Black Star Theater Company and the creator and former Director of the Creative Arts Department at the Cyzner Institute of Charlotte. As a Certified Sound Therapist, Registered Cognitive Behavioral Therapist, and a member of the International Alliance of Holistic Therapists, Shane travels to National Health Care Conferences as a key note speaker and consultant in the Therapeutic Arts and Behavioral Health. Shane Elks is a Licensed Instructor and Curriculum Consultant for the National Certification Council for Activity Professionals. He is a graduate of CLI Seminary, The American Music and Dramatics Academy and The British Centre of Excellence. Shane has also studied with Vocal Masters from The Juilliard School of Music Advancement Program and The Metropolitan Opera Guild. His years as a performer in Musical Theatre, Jazz, and Opera has fueled his passion to share the performing arts with his community. Shane has worked in Creative and Expressive Arts Therapy for over a decade. He has worked with clients in assisted living, rehabilitation, memory care, early childhood, primary, and advanced grades. Shane is passionate about using the arts to educate, engage, and entertain the community. His belief in person centered care drives his efforts as a practitioner and an educator.
