Software Engineer

Bass & Associates

Omaha, Nebraska, United States

I’ve been primarily a consultant for the outbound department working on multiple projects using different technologies. Since I am proficient in a number of different programming languages I was efficient in a large number of projects that required a flexible working environment. Second I’m a penetration tester on remote servers for proof of concept vulnerabilities. Being a consultant means being flexible in new environments you’re exposed to, and having the ability to quickly learn, and become efficient in new areas. This involves wearing different hats in different places, from sitting down with the client and gathering specifications, to designing application architecture, to developing a project in a technology you might have to learn. The following are the areas I’ve worked in as a consultant for Bass and Associates.• .NET 2.0 - Created a number of web sites using ASP.NET.o A data driven e-commerce site for Nebraska furniture Mart (www.nfm.com). o Customer information site for an insurance information company (Omnium World Wide). o Data driven ASP/ASP.NET site for H and H Trailer (www.hhtrailer.com). o Lead programmer for a client based CMS for www.nfm.com. (Windows Client)o Lead programmer on an account receivable program for NFM. This also included a custom client server piece in order to communicate events on local machines. (Windows Client)• PHP 5.0 - Developed a data driven secure web site for the Omaha Public School district to enter student data.• MS Access - Created a data entry program in Access for Alegent Health.• MS SQL 2005 - Designed, created, and maintained a “development”, and “production” database server for an accounts receivable application for Nebraska Furniture Mart.• IIS - Setup and maintain an internal .NET web site for Nebraska Furniture Mart.• MySQL - Used for the database for an internal OPS web site.• FreeBSD - Operating system used for a MySQL/PHP web solution for OPS.

Software Engineer

Primary responsibility is to create a web based CRM tool using .NET using existing VB code. A large part of the transfer involves the redesign of the application. It can be a hard concept to learn, but development architecture is one of the most crucial points of any project especially when transferring from VB to VB.NET. When I first started, I saw that most of code being used did not take advantage of being object oriented, this makes creating new accounts a long process. I realized that by creating object oriented code in .NET, that EMS could cut the time it took to develop a new account. By using the set of libraries I made, EMS has no need of a full time programmer, and now only needs a part time programmer to quickly create new accounts when they need them. I’m also working on two other projects that require C++. I also administer two IIS servers, MS SQL 2000 database server, and Win2000 domain server using Active Directory. • C#/VB.NET• HTML/JavaScript• XML• SQL/T-SQL• MS SQL • MS Office development (Interop and VBA)• C/C++• Crystal Reports
