Started working part time as a Site Engineer during my third year of University. Initially worked under the supervision of the Site Manager until graduating from University. I was quite often found in the trenches jack hammering with the labourers to keep fit and enjoyed the camaraderie that came with it. I was able to get the respect of my fellow workers who were quite older than me. This enabled an easier transition when I was responsible for my own projects. My fellow workers trusted my abilities, and new I had a good understanding of what was required to complete a bulk and detail project or a civil works project. I was never afraid to ask advice from my fellow employees whether it be machine operators and skilled labourers with many years' experience or subcontractors. Most of my sites seemed to have a good working relationship with all stakeholders, that being the client, direct employees and subcontractors and other trades. I was not concerned to express my opinion to the client and other subcontractors to ensure that my company was given a "fair go" when completing projects. Show less
