The seventh-grade classroom is a strange and wonderful landscape populated by fascinating life forms. I journeyed there for 12 years striving to impart knowledge and wisdom to the indigenous people. And, I was content.But, a creative restlessness stirred in me, and I discovered a new desire - to journey beyond the classroom, beyond the lockers and the lunch ladies, past the flag pole and huddles of flatulent boys and out into a world where I could allow my passion for visual creativity to flourish – the world of graphic design. I made my way to Collin College and earned my AAS in Applied Graphic Design Technology and became skilled with the tools of graphic design: • Illustrator• InDesign• PhotoshopI learned the foundations of good design, of balance and composition and the components that make images and words communicate not only what is there on the surface but also what is beyond the surface and how these things resonate in the mind and the heart. I grew in knowledge of brand identity, logos, digital imaging, and layout. I packed up all of this knowledge, headed out into the design world and landed at The Pursuant Group. At Pursuant, I produced front-end layouts for online university athletic guides and online alumni magazines. Most importantly, I enjoyed the opportunity to learn more about this craft that we call graphic design alongside some amazing people.Now, my journey continues. I believe that good design can help make the world a better place, and I would love to work, to grow, and to create that kind of design alongside fun, like-minded individuals.
