I am currently employed as a Project Engineer at Trustpower Ltd, Tauranga, New Zealand within the Strategy & Hydro Development Group (Generation division). I have fulfilled this role within the company since March 2007. My responsibilities include the development, enhancement, and optimisation of various projects across Trustpower’s hydroelectric power and irrigation schemes throughtout New Zealand and Australia.My main areas of focus are:• Identify, develop, assist others and advance generation projects through optimisation and enhancements of existing hydro plant from conceptual design, business case and implementation. • Discover opportunities and create operational tools/models to enhance the flexibility of Trustpower’s hydro fleet within the constraints of New Zealand Energy Market and Resource Management Act. • Develop and use project financial (DCF) models for the analysis of investment opportunities including probability risk scenarios and potential economic outcomes. • Carry out desktop assessments and on-site tests on hydraulic conveyance systems and turbine/generator systems.• Prepare reports from concept to business case. • Project manage various projects, external consultants and audit/review a diverse range of engineering disciplines (mech, elec, civil, geotech) along with optimising project design.• Support and assist engineering, operations, asset and environmental teams and project related issues/opportunities. Also support and assist Trading and Strategy & Growth Divisions.
