Hired by Honda for a 3-month contract to design and develop the back end SAP software required for an Order Entry and Order Tracking e-commerce system. Came up with a 2 layer design using RFC's and BAPI's that would easily be upgradeable for Web Use Later. The first layer handling the communications for the current system, the second layer being called from the first but also independent and therefore being able to be called from other external systems.Used a variation of basic ABAP, along with Dialog Programming. System was fully documented in a Technical Specification for handover to the German SAP Centre.

Initially employed to develop software in INFORMIX on existing systems. This was a mix of developing new modules such as bolt on Wharf and product costing systems, as well as converting some of the older COBOL software into INFORMIX to enhance performance and reliability.Retrained in ABAP and assisted in the conversion to SAP. During the conversion , starting with the writing of functional specifications for areas of the business that were not handled by standard SAP and then to be lead developer for for a large e-commerce bespoke development that would allow Zespri to receive large amounts of data from external suppliers, pre process the data through custom tables and then post the transactions into SAP, via the MM and SD modules.

Programming in INFORMIX, designing and programming new modules for an accounting package. Moved into a support role taking on a number of clients, responsible for client liaison, support, modifications, new software development and upgrades. Also participated in the development of a manufacturing package.All programming was done in INFORMIX using versions 4.0 and 4.1 using both standard engine and on-line. Also Shell programming on IBM RISC 6000’s running AIX but also using a number of other machines running a variety of Unix and SCO Unix.

Contracted by IBM to work at Telecom on the new Customer Sales and Service project, a complete re-engineering process migrating data from the current legacy system onto new Client Server Architecture. Hired initially as an Analyst Programmer, but moved to Team Leader. Primary function was design and analysis, data modelling (logical and physical), process and screen design. Programming using Uniface on the front end through to an Oracle database

Basingstoke

Hired as a consultant to write a new module for the existing compliance system to allow users to move sections of data around between databases and machines on different sites around the country. The contract involved the design, programming, testing and installation of the software. Was written using INFORMIX, and Shell scripts, and using X400 communication software.

Called back on another contract for further client support, redesign of the communications to handle larger data transfer and development of new modules

Employed as a consultant on a contract basis. Involved in the specification, design, implementation, testing and installation of a large database application within the Compliance area of the Inland Revenue, comprising 400 users spread over 20 offices. Also involved in the training of users, and later, of junior development and maintenance staff. Planned and implemented the installation of a "baseline" set of Supplier products throughout the various sites. Unable to furnish details of specific application due to the Official Secrets Act.The system was written using INFORMIX with C routines on a variety of UNIX based PHILIPS hardware, which was lined on a national network using X25 and X400 communication software.

Hired for this contract by Kalamazoo to work on site at Securicor developing a Parcel delivery system with bar-code interfacing. Each company was asked to provide different hardware and different 4GL software to develop the system in, and was given 7 weeks to get as much of the system up and running.I used an IBM PS2 Model 70 running SCO Xenix on a 386 chip, using INFORMIX 4GL and INFORMIX SQL.
