Duties include requirements gathering, architecture, design, technology research, documentation, and development. In addition, responsible for coordinating development tasks with quality assurance (QA), peer development groups, product managers, project managers, marketing, 3rd party integrators and business stakeholders. Currently adapting/converting a traditional waterfall methodology of software development to include Agile/XP processes. Report to Director of Commercial Software Development.Roles: • Team Lead Lead and manage a team of 6 Software Engineers working on 1 - 3 software products simultaneously. • Development Manager Responsibilities include hiring, training, interviewing, mentoring and yearly reviews for Software Engineers of various levels. • Scrum Master Guide the product team on how to use Agile/Scrum practice, facilitate discussion, decision make, and conflict resolution. Assist with internal and external communication, improving transparency, and radiating product information. • Software ArchitectResponsible for initial design and development of new software and extensive software revisions for several commercial applications. Defines product requirements and creates high-level architectural specifications, ensuring feasibility, functionality, and integration with existing systems/platforms. Provide consultation on Microsoft's Azure cloud based development for other Patterson teams and is considered to be a top level contributor.

Projects include:DIA Cloud (Veterinary Patient Education) • Responsible for leading the team charged with porting a legacy veterinary patient education application to a cloud based solution with little more than a project file dump and the existing product to use as requirements. • Communicate with key business stakeholders to identity minimal viable product features as well as provide estimates used to identify product release milestones. • Identify and negotiate costs with streaming partners. • Work with corporate groups and resources to ensure the product conforms to Patterson's best practices for security, scalability, cost management, and overall architecture. • Required to maintain an active understanding of current applicable technology and to apply that knowledge towards decisions in architecture and development.PCA (WIF Identity Provider) • Responsible for leading a team of 3 developers to architect, design, and develop an application that provides identity services for 3 different commercial web applications for Patterson ranging from dental, medical, and education based software products. • Consisted of a multi-tier architecture including a SQL Server database, REST web service layer, and ASP.NET web forms application layer hosted in Microsoft's Azure cloud platform. • Features included signin, username and password recovery, registration, account management, user management: All skinned for each relying party. • Identity claims included authorization information retrieved from Patterson services for use by relying party applications. • Responsible for leading development, organizing and managing sprints.
