Kids - Ice - Fun - Smiles! Probably the main reasons I have dedicated my life to the ice arena industry. - First off kids, the best motivation and enjoyment I get from my job. Nothing better than seeing those kiddos on the ice either learning new skills, practicing to get better, or drinking hot chocolate after a full session of skating. - Fun, (I'll get back to Ice) who doesn't enjoy seeing people have fun through learning or just a nightly activity. - Smiles, when someone gets off the ice and I see a big grin beaming from a kid who just loves skating. - Ice, now let's get down to business. The product an ice arena sells is its ice and I'm here to be knowledgeable in all aspects of the arena industry. I have gained experience working in various roles at an arena such as: the front desk, skate sharpening, skate rental, concessions, ice resurfacing, ice maintenance, ice painting, equipment operation, and building maintenance. I have taken it upon myself to be trained by industry professionals and attend conferences and trade shows to gain insights on how an arena operates. Some of the classes I have taken, which were taught through "Serving the American Rinks" are: basic refrigeration, Ice making and painting, and ice maintenance and equipment operation. I fully understand and have resources, such as reading materials, pictures, online databases, and networking connections to assist me in all these areas. These trainings have assisted my current supervisor during times of ice installations where he doesn't have to tell me how to install lines, logos, clean the boards, operate equipment, etc… This has saved time and money to the company where they don't have to train me. All this training as led me to become certified as a "Certified Ice Technician," which is recognized by the National Hockey League. I'm looking for a challenge where I can facilitate 'Kids - Ice - Fun - Smiles. Please contact me directly at shanetr@gmail.com
