Initially starting as a trainee welder, I worked hard to earn both the skillset of welding and fabrication processes. I work with stainless steel in TIG and MIG/MAG and complete the welding and fabrication of bespoke products for the food, pharmaceutical, architectural and veterinary sectors. I can read and interpret complex engineering drawings and can work with both section and sheetwork varying from 1mm to 30mm. I have the ability to weld in flat, horizontal, vertical and overhead position and I efficiently work on projects both on my own and on larger projects as part of a team.

Following the completion of my apprenticeship with Bridgnorth Aluminium LTD, I joined a project putting a second casting route in on site, including two furnaces and a casting machine. I spent 18 months on this project assisting contractors with various different tasks including welding, hydraulic, pneumatic and general fitting. Following the commissioning of the second casting route I then took up the role of a shift Mechanical Technician looking after both casting routes. While doing this I have gained experience maintaining furnaces, casting machines, foundry dust/fume extraction systems, hydraulic/pneumatic systems and air compressors. I successfully executed this role working on my own from 2013-2018 and then as part of a shift from 2018 onwards. I have also continued progressing my general fitting skills.

Followed a structured apprenticeship programme in which I went to college full time for the first year completing a Level Two in Performing Engineering Operations. Following the first year I was based at work improving my engineering skills and on day release to college to complete further engineering qualifications. From 2011 I began to fill a vacant shift position gaining knowledge and experience working with a Mechanical Technician maintaining a rolling mill, attending breakdowns and completing preventative maintenance work.
