He also led a grant proposal in coordination with a local NGO to produce public service announcements though television, radio and stage dramas as well as serving on the grant approval committee. Mr. Wetherbee also participated in weekly working group meetings to help guide the programs with senior level staff and field personnel. As a member of the USG interagency Mobile Outreach Support Team (MOST), he was also responsible for providing overall project support and backstopping, particularly working closely with the field teams by providing technical and administrative direction for program implementation, as well as supporting the development of new business in the region. He also led field research and analysis on a microfinance survey to determine farmer’s access to microcredit, business development and export markets though supply chains in Kandahar, which contributed to the advancement of economic development proposals and sector reports. Finally, Mr. Wetherbee also served as the On Site Monitor for several USAID programs in Key Terrain Districts which included traveling to program sites to monitor and evaluate and work with local staff to ensure good performance of the programs.

For his leadership capabilities, Mr. Wetherbee was chosen as Voluntary Advisory Committee leader, and responsible for organizing bi-monthly meetings for volunteers in same region to exchange important Peace Corps information and collaborate on projects. Finally, he designed and conducted a community health census reaching 100 homes and approximately 500 community members.
