Shane's role is to build a holistic view and define the roadmap of SEEK’s technology strategy, processes and information technology. Shane works closely with other parts of the business, vendors, service providers and contracted parties to deliver the program of work whilst maintaining a sound infrastructure platform for SEEK. Designed solutions follow industry best practices, standards, guidelines and processes to deliver infrastructure solutions that meet the requirements of the business which include high availability, performance and security• Key Achievements - Ability to understand business drivers and come up with appropriate solutions - Re-design and transformation of SAP environment to eliminate all single points of failure and provide high availability on all tiers for this business critical service - Drive innovation and introduce better ways to manage our complex environment. - Introduction of Fusion IO NAND based flash storage platform to allow the business to leverage our data in ways we haven't been able to in the past. Performance of www.seek.com.au from an end user perspective increased a minimum of 39% with no code changes. - Introduction of a hybrid hosting model to allow suitable workloads to burst to a cloud provider - Implementation of a tiered storage environment - Technical coaching and mentoring of junior staff - Virtualisation of online environment which included database and application clusters - Infrastructure roadmap for all environments - Design and implementation of a DR solution that encompasses many:1 replication using VMWare SRM - VM Host and Storage HA. As a Senior Systems Engineer at SEEK I was responsible for the design, implementation, management and operation of SEEKs websites and back office infrastructure to meet all business requirements and SLAs for IT systems. Forte around online systems and the technologies and methods that provide high availability.• Key Achievements - The lead contact point for infrastructure design and debug around the SEEK website - Identified all single points of failure in the SEEK online environment. Over 2 years I resolved every one of them. This code, infrastructure and stakeholder management - Better use of resources. Convinced senior management that SEEK needed to abolish multiple web-farms and run all sites on all servers, effectively creating one big farm. This delivered 40% more capacity using the same hardware platform - Developed a script that would place the SEEK website in to outage within 2 seconds. The prior process took many minutes - Ability to script SEEK out of almost any problem - Implementation of a Services Cluster. All of SEEK's generic services were made highly available - Researched and implemented a gZip ISAPI filter based solution across the SEEK website. Reduction in 80 mbps of outbound traffic. Product solution required exec level buy in. - Led the design and upgrade tasks of the SEEK employment website from Windows Server 2003(IIS 6.0) to Windows Server 2008 R2 (IIS 7.5). This involved significant changes to our code base in moving from a 32 bit environment to a native 64 bit integrated ASP.NET runtime model - Migration from round robin based NLB to a weighted based solution to take advantage of differing hardware platforms - Implementation of Cisco UCS / NetApp FAS 3xxx for the SEEKWEB environment - Multiple SAN migrations of MSCS based clusters - Consulting of the SEEK IT development team providing advice and guidance on infrastructure best practices

Undertook a migration from our native Linux BIND DNS system to a mixed mode BIND/Windows 2000 Server DNS solution. - Creation of an ASP application to allow easy zone file modification and updating of up to 23000 zone files. Self-service for clients to modify their zones- Creation of an application to allow clients to manage their own SQL 2000 / 2005 databases- Ability to create code in ASP/VB to accomplish almost any task.- Debugging code in ASP.NET/ASP/PHP/Perl/JSP and other languages relating to client sites. - Query creation, administration and troubleshooting of MS SQL 7.0/2000 servers.- Mail cluster design and implementation for 180 000 users. I ran a team to modify the existing mail server software which was not cluster aware, custom DLL creation.- Creation of an ASP application to monitor SMTP logs on web servers to determine the volume of email that is being sent from a given virtual server via the local SMTP server.- Liaising with our US based data centres on a daily basis and trouble shooting issues with the US based support engineers.
