Acted as both Technical Team Leader and Program Manager through all phases of product development from conception to launch. Skills included requirements generation, awareness of all product regulatory and quality management considerations (EN60601, ISO 13485, UL), explaining the science behind the assays to the engineering team, risk analysis, and working with customers to improve chemistry and biology of their platforms. Led three globally separated teams, including optical, electrical, mechanical, firmware and software engineers, in the U.S., Germany, and Romania and developed 10 separate instruments or instrument modules, roughly 20% of instrument development projects. - As both Technical Team Leader and Program Manager, brought a liquid volume measuring device through all 5 phases of product development in 9 months, about 50% of the time it takes for such a product - Demonstrated Stratec's technical competence in spectral imaging to secure an engineering [development] agreement with Fortune 100 company to develop a new spectral imaging microscope as a cancer diagnostic and was Lead Systems Engineer of the project - Conceived of and built imaging ellipsometer used by University of Tuebingen and NMI (Natural & Medical Sciences Institute, Germany) to aid in early diagnosis of breast cancer through detection of circulating tumor cells

Represented the company as key technology contact in meetings with potential customers and investors, performed risk evaluations of competitive technologies in the field, and provided extensive input for developing technology roadmaps, writing business plans, and creating financial projections. Set research and scientific priorities to align with overall company goals. - Secured a $2 million NIH grant as the Principal Investigator to develop a new label-free technology, allowing the company to continue for another 3 years. - Added 9 patents to IP portfolio that improved instrumentation and also secured intellectual property surrounding the disposables, part of our IP strategic planning and an important second revenue stream. Analyzed symmetric encryption systems and weaknesses of both software and hardware random number generators.
