About Shane Gerkin, Pe

My personal philosophy is to leave the world better than we came into it, so that future generations may be able to enjoy it as we have. I strive to use my engineering skills to create a sustainable future for all. That is why I have spent the last seven(8+) years working as a Mechanical Engineer on sustainable building consulting.I’ve had an interest in buildings from a young age. My grandfather was a home builder and growing up I used to spend summers with him working on his homes. This fueled my passion for architecture and construction. During college I learned more about the environment and became involved with solar cell research and the universities solar car race team.Since then, I have spent my entire professional career in the building industry working to push the envelope. I was part of the team that designed the first Net Zero Energy building in the Cal State system, a mechanical engineer on one of the first WELL certified buildings in California, and the lead Mechanical Engineer on one of the first all-electric student housing projects in California.I’m thankful for the opportunities I’ve been given and wanted to give back to you and others that interested in sustainable careers or just want to hear stories of what people are doing to make the world more sustainable. That is why I started a podcast called Green & Grind. You can find it on Spotify and iTunes. I hope you get some value from the stories. Here’s what value and skills I can offer you:- Fully encompassed HVAC design and implementation on a variety of systems and building sectors- Building Energy Modeling- Building Envelope Performance- BIM modeling - Revit & AutoCAD- LEED design, consultation, and documentation- WELL design and consultation- Net Zero Design and consultation- Business Development- RFP response- HVAC Peer Review- Project Management- Commissioning and RecommissioningGet in touch:📧 Email me at shane.gerkin@gmail.comor💬 Send me a private message on LinkedIn, I have an open profile!
