People, cutting edge tech, and a passion for growth and innovation largely define my career. I started my career at Vodafone—circa 2002—back when mobile phones were still just revolutionising everyday life. Being a geek, I instantly fell in love with fast pace of business that comes with new tech, but more importantly I became passionate about making a real difference to people’s lives. Fast forward nearly two decades and ‘making a difference’ has defined large parts of my career, and leading the Foot Science International team to make a positive difference to millions of lives around the world, every day. I’m also still a geek (ask me about my self-built Smart Home). Our purpose of “keeping people active” hits very close to home having lost a family member to a diabetic foot infection. Foot Science International’s evidence-based research and Formthotics orthoses actively work to change the stats. I’m looking forward to sharing a little more on how we do that as a team over the coming months. I’m a natural-born problem solver with a growth mindset and finely calibrated emotional intelligence. Ten years in cutting-edge tech saw me devising international marketing strategies, driving significant revenue growth, and bridging the divide between people and product. I’ve always enjoyed working in start-up areas of larger companies as I love the energy and drive that these dynamic growth areas bring. These days, my passion is people. My family, team and clients. I approach leadership with an affiliative lens and a focus on company culture. That starts with building an environment where my team can be their authentic selves—leisure pursuits and all. As for me, I’m a BBQ master, frisbee-golf amateur, casual photographer, and a well-practised bedtime story reader. Now, tell me about you. aboutme@s2.co.nzhttps://www.footscienceinternational.com/ “There are plenty of things you can fake in life. Passion isn’t one of them”.

Chief Executive OfficerFoot Science International May 2021 - PresentChristchurch, Canterbury, New ZealandFacilitating healthy and active lifestyles for more than 40 years.I have the pleasure of leading the team at Foot Science International—an industry leader in the design and manufacture of customisable foot orthoses.I govern the company with a purpose-driven culture, financial vision and an entrepreneurial spirit. I have a penchant for putting humans at the heart of everything we do. From actively championing my team’s personal development, to cultivating an environment where they have the freedom to work autonomously, think outside the box and find their own passions. My areas of expertise include data science, analysis, marketing, sales, public speaking, and asking the “what if?” questions. I have an innate ability to turn technical detail into plain language. As a relatively new CEO, I am re-setting the long-term vision of the company, KPIs, and growth plans and that our team can rally around. I enjoy using my commercial acumen to turn strategic thinking into tactical roadmaps for execution. As a leader, I firmly believe that when everyone treats everyone else’s mana as equal or greater than their own, then we as a community move forward. This is especially true of the medical community. From how we foster new graduates, through to patient welfare. Together, we don’t just fix feet. We change lives. -

Sales And Marketing DirectorPolaroid Blipfoto Nov 2013 - Mar 2015Edinburgh, United KingdomYour daily photo journal. Polaroid Blipfoto empowered me with small business experience and an “everyone in” mentality that I have carried throughout my career. With a small team and an even smaller pool of funding, I learnt to be extremely resourceful and self-sufficient. My key responsibilities spanned sales and partner negotiation to deliver global growth and expansion. My big focus in this role was securing a successful launch of our partnership with Polaroid. This included scaling the website’s capabilities to cope with an increased level of traffic, working with agencies throughout the US, and crafting PR plans for launch.. This role combined my geeky photography skills with something that makes a true difference to people’s lives—simply by asking: “what’s important about today”? http://www.thedrum.com/news/2013/11/28/blipfoto-appoints-former-vodafone-marketer-shane-heenan-director-sales-and-marketing -
Customer Value Management ManagerVodafone Global Enterprise Apr 2013 - Nov 2013Uk - NewburyThe Vodafone Global Enterprise team gave me the most empowering brief… to do something different that will set us apart in one/two/three years’ time. To ignore what the company does, to take risks I’d never take in day-to-day life, and to carve a new path to success. It was an incredibly customer-focused role that sharpened my analytical skills and put me at the forefront of innovation. Our team started by looking at price plan development. We quickly flipped the model on its head by positioning Vodafone as the first telco company to completely de-risk roaming for our business customers. The acquisition and ROI attributed to this campaign was exponentially bigger than we ever forecast. Vodafone Global Enterprise was the highest performing team I have ever been a part of. We were armed with implicit trust and freedom for exploration. These are empowering conditions that I strive to give my own employees. -
