Led and Managed the delivery of the Data Centre transformation element of the Department of Defence Central Processing (CP) Transformation Program for Lockheed Martin Australia (now Leidos Australia). This program required the construction, configuration and delivery 15 Data Centre instances across the Unclassified, Protected and Secret security domains. Responsible for the execution of over $17m budget, 80 personnel and the delivery of 20 data centre instances across 14 sites. This program of works was executed as expected and delivered to the customer in accordance with the agreed schedule. I joined the program after initiation and needed to implement recovery from an initial state where there was a significant cost and schedule variance from the plan. I undertook:o A complete schedule restructure. o The review and reset of the project budget.o The delivery of high quality leadership. The project executed in accordance with the baseline plan and budget to deliver to the customer’s expectation.

Lead the conduct of a Rapid Improvement Event (RIE) to review the maintenance and aircrew elements of the recently introduced Romeo capability. This event aimed to locate and identify areas for improved efficiency and effectiveness (productivity) and to make recommendations to the Commander of the Fleet Air Arm (COMFAA).

The Directorate of Navy Continuous Improvement (DNCI) is changed with delivery fundamental and continuous improvement into Navy. Shane was responsible for the strategy to enable technical delivery of a sizeable programme of work whose elements were necessary to restore the organisations ICT infrastructure from a state of serious decline in addition to delivering new business capability from a technology perspective. Through his close working relationship with the CIO, CTO and the Corporate Services executive he developed all the necessary planning instruments, provided professional advice, professional leadership on the program of works as well as guided the delivery of the delivery program. The program includedo The implementation of a new ITSM (Microsoft System Centre System Manager) toolo The implementation of a dual-node replicated storage (100TB) topology to provide business level resilience for all business systems. o Scoping and delivering a remote access capability through the use of VMView technology and “Good” Mobile Device Management for mobile devices.o Conduct widespread and critical site replacement of all networking and server infrastructures within each organisational site. This included all site based file servers, controllers, switching and routing. These have all been setup in a highly available configuration to remove single points of failure therefore improving the organisational resilience to interruption. o Ensuring the ICT environment is compliant with its security and standards obligations as defined within the Information Security Manual.

Shane worked on the Royal Australian Mints modernisation program during 2007 and 2008. During this time he his collegue, Mr Garry Downs conducted the analysis for and prepared the RFT docuementation for the procurement of an automated Materials Handling and Warehousing System, an ERP Solution and the manufacture and delivery of coin blanks for the manufacture of Australian currency. The work included the development of requirements, RFT docs, evaluation process and reports, contract documentation & negotiationThe Material Handling and Warehousing System has been implementaed by Australis Engineering (see http://www.cio.com.au/article/315600/robots_make_coins_go_round_downunder). Cincom Systems implemented the ERP solution (see http://www.cio.com.au/article/316088/australian_mint_invests_technology?eid=-601) and Poonsang Corporation of South Korea are providing the coin blanks.

As a Director within the WEBS, I was responsible for the delivery of the revolutionary consumer Health information intiative called HealthInsite. HealthInsite was a Federal Govt initiative to provide high quality health information to Australian Citizens as a precussor to a visit to a Doctor and instead of consulting othe unvalidated and unreferenced sources over the Internet.I reported the progress and achievments of this project direclty to the Minister for Health and Ageing and the First Assistant Secretary for the Department. The project was successfully launched in Kings Hall, Parliament House in August 1999 and the initiative remains active today (www.healthinsite.gov.au)

He worked from a holistic systems viewpoint to understand and develop integrated, standardized & optimized information solutions to enable high quality logistic determinations. • Superintendent Aircraft Maintenance & Repair – Manager Information Systems.In 1989 Shane was the co-author of a Service paper that articulated a position for an Information Management view of the logistics chain. He (as a Petty Officer) and his colleague (Leut G Horner) thoroughly investigated and worked through the business processes, quality requirements and methods by which full end to end tracking of maintenance managed items could be achieved whilst ensuring that there was no comprise to airworthiness. As a result of the paper, the Fleet Air Arm adopted the Computer Aided Maintenance Management (CAMM ) system that also integrated into the Maintenance Analysis And Reporting System (MAARS) so that high quality data was available at all times. In addition, under Shane’s tutelage, the system was implemented so that an end-to-end view of maintenance, usage and location information was available at all times (unlike the Air Force implementation).• Naval Aircraft Logistics Office - Manager Information Systems. He subsequently undertook the Logistic Information Support Program (LISP) within the Naval Aircraft Logistic Office to improve how the processes and systems that generate key logistical information could be improved, standardized and integrated.Shane was awarded an Australia Day Medallion in 1995 for his outstanding management of a project team in the development of the Logistics Information Support Program at the Naval Aircraft Logistics Office.He also consulted to Navy Aviation projects in regards to the data elements required to enable an integrated and optimized logistical view.
