I offer 30 years’ experience as a Marine and Mechanical fitter, with Diesel-Electric as major subject, with a background in ships and submarines, where I qualified as a submariner in the South African Navy. I have10 years offshore experience gained on semi-submersible drill rigs, working my way from rig mechanic to assistant chief mechanic and finally as chief mechanic where I spent 8 years as Chief Mechanic and stand-in Maintenance Supervisor on the FPSO rig Orca based in Mossel bay South Africa managed by PetroSA. I also have experience operating and maintaining hydraulic casing tongs with salvo programming and various size casing slips on the rig drill floor and as workshop Technician onshore for BJ Tubular division in India. I am a Liberian certified Maintenance Supervisor gained at Houston Marine in Louisiana USA.I am multi skilled in all aspects of mechanical systems with maintenance, repair, troubleshooting and failure reports for production and marine machinery. I have a good understanding of electrical equipment and components and work closely with the electricians on the power generation systems to monitor changes and power demands from one generator to another. I am able to interpret technical drawings and implement designs and identify improvements to mechanical systems where needed. I interact with personnel on all levels including ABS and Liberian authority. Actively involved with the safety STOP programme for the safety of personnel in the maintenance department and the rig, and supervise the Mechanics, Motorman, Fitters, Welders and Mud pump room personnel to follow correct maintenance practices and procedures. I have user level experience on Maximo and SAP R3 preventative maintenance management programmes and authorized to create notifications and work orders, confirm and technically close completed work orders, check stock levels, reserve spares for maintenance and display material masters.
