As a Program Manager at Diggerworks , managed a multi-disciplinary team of scientists, engineers and project managers to progress the programs project portfolio of 30 innovation projects focusing on the identification, design and development of groundbreaking innovative/enhanced materiel concepts to improve the capability and endurance of Australian Defence Force combatants. Focused on evaluating next-generation soldier combat systems, conducted post-operational soldier engagement to identify capability gaps, then identified military off-the-shelf mature innovative/disruptive technologies, or developed prototypes that could be introduced into service to ADF combatants within 3 to 5 years. Pioneered a new project management process, incorporating Prince2 and Agile methodologies, then led organisational adoption of the process through change management.As Project Manager - Adaptive Acquisitions at Diggerworks, conducted comprehensive stakeholder engagement with users (personally engaging over 2000 soldiers in 2016), senior users (the relevant headquarters elements) and suppliers (Australian and international industry partners) to identify critical materiel capability gaps/enhancements within the larger Soldier Combat Systems Program, then project managed the design, production, evaluation, validation and transfer to acquisition authority of innovative/enhanced materiel (resulting in Defence acquisition of over $7 million of materiel over 12 months as part of a $340 million Capability Enhancement Project).

8th/9th Battalion, the Royal Australian Regiment. As the Director of Operations in a high intensity program for the year, forecast, planned and managed the training and operations of the 600-person Infantry Battalion and its $2.5 million annual operating budget, also supervising the management of the unit’s fleet of 76 Bushmaster Protected Mobility Vehicles. Led the operations team planning and implemented organisational change management as the Battalion transitioned from an 18 month training phase to operational readiness, at the same time deploying two contingents for OP HIGHROAD (Afghanistan) and one for OP OKRA (Iraq).

8th/9th Battalion, the Royal Australian Regiment. Trained and led a 130 person Combined Arms Combat Team, including an attached Australian Light Armoured Vehicle (ASLAV) Troop, through complex combined arms and battle group live fire training as the digitized manoeuvre arm of the new 7th Combat Brigade. In addition, continued in the extra role of Unit Safety Manager and led the Battalion through a zero-defect Army Capability Assurance Agency (ACAA) third party Workplace Health and Safety (WHS), Quality and Technical Regulatory Framework (TRF) audit.

8th/9th Battalion, the Royal Australian Regiment. Commanded, managed and led a team of 90 trade-qualified specialists responsible for the fleet management, maintenance and logistical organisation of the Motorised Infantry Battalion and its fleet of 79 Bushmaster Protected Mobility Vehicles. In addition, performed extra roles as the Unit Work Health and Safety Manager and Senior Equipment Manager for the Battalion. Received an Army Safety Award, Defence Work Health and Safety Award and a ComCare Award for the Innovative Rehabilitation of Soldiers based upon the initiatives that were implemented for the rehabilitation and return to work of the soldiers in the Battalion.

The North West Mobile Force. Acted as executive assistant to the Commander of the Battalion, supervised the Unit Orderly Room clerical staff and ensured the efficient personnel administration of the Regiment’s 600 members. In addition, performed as Unit Incident Manager and Safety Advisor, Senior Equity Advisor, Unit Welfare Officer and Combat Fitness Leader. Received a Defence Work Health and Safety Award and ComCare High Commendation for Best Individual Contribution to WHS for design and implementation of the innovative NORFORCE Incident Management Plan, which was adopted by units across the Army.

Headquarters Combined Joint Task Force Operation Inherent Resolve, Middle East (military deployment). Participated in key headquarters strategic and operational briefings and drafted daily reports succinctly encapsulating the strategic picture in a highly complex political environment, with concise analysis of the strategic issues relevant to Australian national interests, which was read daily by the CEO in Australia. Drafted incident management Standard Operating Procedures for the Australian embedded contingent. As an Australian officer, manoeuvred politically amongst the executive level officers of 60 represented nations within the coalition headquarters, championing Australian national interests with repeated success. Whilst deployed, was personally requested by the British Director of Strategic Communications (CJ34 Non-lethal Fires) to work on special Information Operations projects, and at the request of the Commander, briefed his Executive level officers (2 Star Generals) and their staffs on the strategic relevance and specifics of Arab and Muslim Culture.

Combined Team Uruzgan 2/3 (military deployment). Planned over 30 successfully executed operations and contingency plans for Combined Team Uruzgan to conduct coalition conventional and special forces operations to assist the Afghan National Security Forces in the Uruzgan Province. Promoted to Chief of Information Operations, planned and coordinated the effects of a team of 25 American and Australian strategic communications and intelligence specialists conducting full spectrum information operations in the provinces of Uruzgan and Daykundi in preparation for transition of security to Afghan National Security Forces. Awarded the US Army Commendation Medal for the effects of executed strategic communications operations on the targeted demographics.

Assistant Director (Operations) Headquarters 11th Brigade, Australian Army. Supervised a team of 6 senior members (military and civilian) to coordinate the activities of the 1600 Reserve soldiers in 7 regionally dislocated units, spread from Cairns to the Gold Coast, of the 11th Brigade (Queensland’s Army Reserve). Received the Chief of Army Gold Commendation for development of the 11th Brigade Spartan Award, an innovative physical fitness incentive program that raised Brigade readiness by 30 percent.Assistant Director (Oerations) 1st Battalion, the Royal Australian Regiment. As Assistant Director Operations, coordinated training activities for the 700-person battalion, including booking of training areas and weapon ranges, ammunition, transport and writing of safety instructions.Section Manager-Instructor (Platoon Commander), Rifleman Wing, School of Infantry. Planned and conducted Infantry Initial Employment Training (IET) for new Army recruits; three 13-week courses of 52 students each. Provided training, counselling, career guidance and leadership in the field and in barracks, and supervised an instructional team of 5. Rewrote and developed the full course training presentations for the new IET Training Management Package (TMP).

Australian Army Training Team Iraq VII (military deployment). On operations in Iraq, led a team which mentored Iraqi Army instructors at the Regional Training Centre, Talil. Designed and implemented courses for the Iraqi Army and Iraqi Officer Academy (in Arabic) including Urban Combat, Small Arms Coaching, Microsoft Office, Battle Conditioning Training and Use of Satellite Navigation Systems.

As one of two company directors, provided training, computer support, documentation and specialist consulting services to Government Departments, Construction, Mining and Petroleum companies in Australia, Indonesia and PNG. Designed and implemented online training solutions for clients such as Komatsu Australia, Thiess Mining and others. Conducted technical and software based training for numerous clients. Developed procedure manuals for underground coal mining operations, operator training manuals for plant, coal mine emergency response manuals and other technical documentation.1999 - Lihir Management Company (Sydney and PNG). Developed a DBASE IV database of training conducted on the project and an integrated maintenance management and purchasing system; provided basic computer training to Nationals on site.
