About Shankar Swamy

I enjoy leading teams to solve complex problems. Today, there is no bigger problem than the dual crises of climate change/nature destruction. I seek roles that blend my extensive commercial leadership experience within small, medium, and large-sized organizations with my passion and knowledge of complex sustainability transition issues to help an established company navigate its sustainability journey or to provide mature leadership to enable a nascent climate tech company to scale. I currently perform these roles as the CFO for two sister companies EcoAdvisors & EcoInvestors Capital - both organizations driven to create a world where financial and environmental incentives are aligned to facilitate the scaled deployment of capital toward sustainable solutions. My leadership journey spans a wide range of experiences: as a combat mission commander in a tactical jet taking decisive action in a dynamic, multi-tasking environment, to leading a global financial organization at a large private company (Gallo) through an ERP integration, to building a finance team and associated processes and structure at a rapidly growing e-commerce retailer (Chewy Inc.) through their IPO transition, to capital raising and platform building initiatives for a nascent investment management platform (EcoInvestors Capital), to coaching youth sports teams for years. I have thrived in large matrixed organizations and scrappy start-ups.What do I bring to an organization?Functional Expertise Areas: • Deep knowledge of sustainability across multiple thematic areas including policy and regulations • Building strategic plans and targets and then leading teams to execute them • Agility to move from 30K foot strategic thinking to tactical execution at ground level • Creating process and structure where it doesn't existLeadership and People Skills: • Building, motivating, and leading teams to be cohesive, high-performing organizations • Empathetic and personable; able to relate with people from all different backgrounds • Effectively lead and influence across matrixed organizations to see initiatives to resolutionEffective Workstyle: • Decisiveness and effective prioritization enable me to juggle multiple roles and responsibilities • Use an analytical, data-driven approach and succinct, clear communication to influence decisions • Even keeled, unflappable nature • Excellent storyteller • Curious and quick learner • Attention to detail - follow-through on execution completion • Use humor to defuse tensionPlease reach out to me at swamy.shankar@gmail.com
