SFL-TAP helps Soldiers make informed career decisions through benefits’ counseling and employment assistance. Active or Reserve Component Soldiers with 180+ days of continuous active duty service, and Family members are eligible to receive SFL-TAP services one year prior to separation or two years prior to retirement. Department of the Army Civilian employees and their Family members are eligible up to their transition date.As a SFL-TAP Career Couselor, I conduct individual counseling for personal interaction enabling users to ask questions, seeks clarification and obtains assistance resulting in an ITP; schedule, set-up classroom, announce and plan local group briefings. Provide Transition Briefing which provides clients with required information regarding available transition services and eligibility requirements for transition benefits. Notify the eligible Soldiers of the required pre-separation counseling. Conduct individual counseling: available SFL TAP Services, develop an ITP, develop a résumé of choice (federal or private sector), discusses and develops individual transition goals, learns about continuum of service and enables users to ask questions, seek clarification, and obtain assistance.
