A recent graduate with a passion for communications, I am seeking opportunities to apply my creative, diligent and analytical nature to develop and hone my skills to become a fully-fledged Communications Practitioner.I believe my commitment and flair for this social sciences/humanities discipline is demonstrated by my excellent academic record. I was one of the top-performing students in my cohort. I graduated cum laude for my Communication Studies degree from the University of the Free State (UFS). I am currently nearing the completion of my honours degree in Communication Studies specialising in leadership communication, also from UFS.I earned the Golden Key (top student) Award in the first year of my undergraduate studies, was a media team member of an industry advisory council event hosted by the UFS and read the news at UFS’s radio station, KovsieFM. I was also Head Girl at my former high school.In the final year of my undergraduate degree, I was elected Vice Prime of my student residence, which houses up to 200 students, comprising a mix of first to final year students. The role offered me an opportunity to apply and improve my innate leadership skills, as well as implement effective strategies for conflict resolution, maintaining discipline and mentoring first year students. Through my achievements and varied leadership and team roles, I have proven myself to intuitively possess natural leadership instincts with an ability to work well with others and foster an enabling, positive and productive environment. I have also developed critical thinking skills, and am able to work independently, but equally comfortable working in a team. I believe I am a resilient individual, who works well under pressure. This is evident in being able to achieve seven distinctions in the final year of my undergraduate studies, while being Vice Prime of my student residence in the midst of a global pandemic. I recognise that the scope of communications in recent times has become expansive and links directly to business success. I believe communications is the voice of business, but must also protect and shape the way customers, partners, investors and employees view an enterprise, while managing an ‘always on’ environment brought about by social media. I look forward to growing and expanding my horizons in the communications discipline through formal work opportunities and firmly believe I would be an asset to any organisation looking for a young, highly motivated and hardworking female graduate eager to learn, add value and make her mark in the world.
