As a Senior Aquatic Ecologist with generalist expertise in freshwater, estuarine and marine habitats, I have built a strong consulting career (+7 years) completing a diverse range of projects for clients in New Zealand and Australia. My skills and experience have encompassed the full spectrum of consulting, from proposal and bid delivery, budgeting, field delivery, data analysis, reporting, reviewing, client engagement and project management through to project closure. I developed and implemented a graduate program to assist new graduates with the specific qualities and skills to succeed in the early stages of their consulting career and played an active role in the hire of new team members. Additionally, I have effectively led, coordinated, monitored and managed a small team to achieve deliverables to the client’s satisfaction.I have successfully planned and led aquatic field programs and surveys to assess fish communities, water quality, seagrass, mangroves, coral reefs, sediment quality and macroinvertebrate communities through a wide variety of remote and in-field survey techniques including electrofishing, box traps, fyke nets, BRUVs, spatial analysis, water and sediment sampling, SCUBA and free-diving surveys, in-field assessments and remote sensing. I have a proven ability to effectively communicate scientific information to government regulatory bodies, stakeholders, clients and the public. I have a wide variety of skill, both in the field (chief skipper for 6.2m research vessel, senior operator in backpack electrofishing, rescue SCUBA diver) and in the office (spatial and statistical software, reporting, data analysis, quality assurance, auditing, mentoring). I have contributed to Environmental Impact Assessments, Environmental Management Plans, desktop reviews, Environmental Impact Statements, Design Optioneering, technical reviews and comprehensive receiving environment reports for a range of clients including corporate Commonwealth entities, State-owned corporations, local and international business.
