Greet Customers and ascertain what each customer wants or needs. Describe merchandise and explain use and care of merchandise to customers. Recommend, select and help locate or obtain merchandise based on customer needs and desires. Compute sales prices, total purchases and receive and process cash or credit payment. Answer questions regarding the store and its merchandise. Watch for and recognize security risks and thefts and know how to prevent or handle these situations. Inventory stock and requisition of new merchandise. Arrange and display merchandise to promote sales. Open and close cash registers, performing tasks such as counting money, separating charge slips, coupons, and vouchers, balancing cash drawers and making deposits.

Greet guests and seat them at tables or in waiting areas. Assign patrons to tables suitable for their needs and according to rotation so that servers receive and appropriate number of seatings. Inform patrons of establishment specialties and features. Speak with customers to ensure satisfaction with food and service, to respond to complaints. Answer telephone calls and respond to inquiries or transfer calls. Maintain contact with kitchen staff, management, serving staff and customers to ensure that dining details are handled properly, and customers’ concerns are addressed. Inspect dining and serving areas to ensure cleanliness proper setup. Operate cash registers to accept payments. Assist with preparing and serving food and beverages.
