This placement was a 36 week Internship in my final year. This consisted of a rotation of three months each on antenatal, labour and postnatal wards in UMHL and UHW. This was a great experience in developing my clinical skills. I gained a better understanding of case load and using ones initiative, medication management, and liaising within a multidisciplinary team. Internship gave me the opportunity to improve on being a competent student in following the correct and up to date guidelines in order to make evidence based decisions throughout my nine months. Working through case loads gave a great insight into recognising any deviations from the norm and escalating appropriately.
