• Oversee all aspects of special needs department for 225 students • Ensure full compliance for special needs students with regards to IDEA• Coordinate marketing strategies to increase student population• Work directly with principal to recruit new staff and students at the highest standards• Training staff on best practices and strategies for improving the education of special needs students• Ensure that all files and paperwork follow compliance with state and federal laws• Work closely with counselors, social worker and psychologist to advocate for students and family’s needs both in and out of the school environment• Spearheaded the marketing program to promote new gifted academy at Woodland• Built the master schedule for ESE students/teachers and hand scheduled all students based on IEP’s and services needed • Responded to and built relationships with parents and stakeholders as a liaison between home, school, district and the state. Scheduled and conducted meetings between teachers, parents and outside agencies • Collaborated with community business partners • Trained and guided staff on the use of data and implementation of data into daily lessons• Sit on the Student Wide Support Team- provide teachers with academic and behavioral interventions• Work with Behavior Specialist and AP to handle referrals and provide alternate solutions to suspensions• Generating statistical and quantitative reports and analyses of program activity• Help teachers to read and access data to ensure quality lesson plans and provide interventions to students in need
